Fondation IdéeSport

Fondation IdéeSport has been enhancing youth well-being in Switzerland since 1999, using sport to promote health, prevent addiction, and foster social inclusion. The foundation transforms unused spaces into active hubs, providing opportunities for social interaction and inclusion for youth.

Empowering Youth through Sport and Social Inclusion

Since 1999, Fondation IdéeSport has been promoting the well-being of children and youth in Switzerland, using sport as a tool for addiction prevention, health promotion, and social integration. Djinda Foundation is proud to support this impactful initiative.

Through its programs, IdéeSport transforms empty spaces—such as unused school gyms and town halls—into active hubs for sports and social gatherings. These sessions provide regular opportunities for social interaction, fostering inclusion across cultural and social boundaries.
Djinda Foundation’s grant supported IdéeSport’s coaching program during the 2023-2024 academic year. This grant enabled the training and development of coaches, equipping them with the skills to mentor young participants.

The impact the program achieved:

Key Takeaways

  • Coach Development: The program empowered coaches, boosting their confidence and expanding both their personal and professional skill sets. They gained valuable experience in teamwork, responsibility, and leadership, helping prepare them for future vocational training.
  • Training Focus: Coaches received comprehensive training on critical topics, such as managing challenging situations, fostering inclusion (basic and advanced), and improving youth participation. These skills are vital for creating a supportive and inclusive environment for participants.

Looking Ahead

Feedback from participants highlighted a need for safe spaces where children can openly express their thoughts and feelings. To address this, IdéeSport is introducing a new mental health-focused strategy, aimed at providing emotional support and ensuring participants feel confident and comfortable in these spaces.

In 2024, IdéeSport will launch the PeerPower Program, with expert guidance from G2L, a health promotion consulting and support organisation. The program will emphasize enjoyable physical activities, peer-driven participation, and the enhancement of both physical and mental health. The focus will also be on building psychological resilience through structured frameworks and support systems.

Additionally, IdéeSport is planning to expand its reach by launching 10 new projects across Switzerland, further broadening its impact in the coming year.
